NEW ULM - Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes & Cremation Services recently paid another set of dividends, according to General Manager, Bruce Savoy

These dividends went to the families who arranged funerals with the association in 2003. The amount paid out in dividends was nearly $50,000.

Minnesota Valley, which was established in 1929, has two funeral homes in New Ulm, and facilities in Nicollet, Hanska and Gibbon.

Any profits that are realized at the end of the year are paid back to those families that used the services that year. Twenty percent of the allocated dividend is paid back by June 30 of the year following the death and the balance of the 80 percent is paid at a later date.

There is a membership fee of $5. The fee covers husband and wife and any person living at home dependent on the certificate holder for support.

In addition to Savoy on staff are licensed funeral directors, David Goplin and Peter Macho, and intern Kari Obbink. Board of director members are President Bob Schabert of Courtland, Vice President Dick Lieb of New Ulm, Secretary-Treasurer Jim Flatau of New Ulm, and directors Dean Wels of Nicollet, Frank Bianchi of St. George, Grace Rubischko of Gibbon and Tony Guggisberg of New Ulm.
