NEW ULM - The Public Utilities Commission approved bids for three major projects Tuesday during a meeting at City Hall.
The PUC awarded the $85,282 bid from M.R. Paving and Excavating, Inc. for the Hermann Heights Park Water Main Improvement Project. The project will complete the link between the future Nehls Park water tower and the Airport water tower with a large diameter water main. The project is part of work to complete the construction of the Nehls Park water tower and to prepare for the demolition of the Hermann Heights water tower, which is slated for next year.
The work will be done from Oct. 14 to Nov. 2 to avoid conflict with Oktoberfest. The bid came in below the $104,000 estimate.
In other action, the PUC approved a $159,500 bid from TMI Coatings, Inc. for the Ground Water Reservoir Repair Project. The project will repair failing masonry on the 3 million-gallon concrete reservoir, or Heinenhill reservoir. The work will be done between Oct. 7 and Nov. 4. The bid came in below the projected cost of $165,000.
The PUC also awarded the $946,880 bid from Brennan Construction for the Back Pressure Steam Turbine Project for the power plant.
