PREP VOLLEYBALL: Nicollet edges Truman

Nicollet 3, Truman 1

NICOLLET - Nicollet defeated Truman 25-22, 25-22, 15-25, 25-16 in Valley Conference volleyball Tuesday.

Nicollet was led by Mindy Poehler with 17 kills and five blocks. Sarah Molitor had five kills and 15 digs. Emily Fisher had nine kills and also had four blocks. Alyssa Wagner had 10 digs, 15 set assists, and was also 20-for-21 serving with an ace. Sara Meurer contributed 16 set assists, Cassie Juberien was 15 for 15 serving with an ace, and Emily Skrien was 17-for-18 serving with an ace.

Nicollet (6-16, 3-6) opens the Section 2A Playoffs Monday.

New Ulm 3, St. James 1

ST. JAMES - New Ulm defeated St. James in a South Central Conference volleyball matchup Tuesday 25-22, 12-25, 25-21, 25-23.

New Ulm's Alley Grejtak and Ellie Schneider each had ten kills and Lizzie Rummel added eight. Grejtak had four blocks, three aces and 17 set assists. Bailey Hofmeister added six blocks and Tori Botten had 17 set assists. Hannah Backer had three aces while Brianna Sieve had 30 digs and Chase Schewe added 14 digs.

New Ulm will open Section 3AA action next week.

Sleepy Eye St. Mary's 3, Springfield 1

SPRINGFIELD - Sleepy Eye St. Mary's beat Springfield 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23 Tuesday night.

For the Tigers, Amanda Roiger was 14-for-14 serving with three aces and 16 digs. Jenny Thoreson was 12-for-12 serving with an ace, 35 set assists and 19 digs. Heidi Veenstra had 13 kills and Taylor Milbrath had six kills.

No stats were reported for St. Mary's.

Springfield (12-15, 3-5) opens Section 2A playoff action next week.
