GFW boys, SM/SE/NUC girls win Tomahawk meet

WINTHROP - The Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop boys cross country team won the Tomahawk Conference meet Tuesday with a score of 33 at the Winthrop Golf Course.

Springfield/Cedar Mountain was second with a 43, followed by Sleepy Eye St. Mary's/Sleepy Eye/New Ulm Cathedral (74) and Minnesota Valley Lutheran (97).

GFW's Tyler Sassenberg was the winner, followed by teammate Brandon Albrecht, SM/SE/NUC's Steve Joyce, S/CM's Dylan Nachreiner, Chaz Kleinschmidt, Collin Daub and MVL's Peter Finken.

On the girls' side, SM/SE/NUC won with a 25, followed by MVL (46), S/CM (88) and GFW (no score).

SM/SE/NUC's Brianna Polesky won, followed by teammate Mary Joyce, S/CM's Alexa Diersen, SM/SE/NUC's Jenny Lax, MVL's Cheyenne Bjorklund and SM/SE/NUC's Cassidy Hacker rounded out the top seven.

No times were given for any of the athletes.
