WINTHROP - Geraldine Opal White, age 82, of Winthrop, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at her daughter's home in Darwin.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in rural Lafayette, with the Rev. Scott Jakel officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Geraldine Opal White was born on Jan. 27, 1931, in rural Winthrop, Cornish Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Estelle (Pete) and Caroline (Carrie) (Batchelder) Woods. Geraldine was baptized as an infant, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Winthrop and was a graduate of the Winthrop High School Class of 1950.

On Sept. 30, 1951, Geraldine was united in marriage to Sam White at Bernadotte Lutheran Church in rural Lafayette. This marriage was blessed with four children, Bruce, Bradley, Teresa and Jack. Geraldine and Sam resided and farmed in rural Winthrop and Pillager. They shared 41 years of marriage until Sam passed away on Oct. 16, 1992.

Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, homemaker and partner in the farming operation. She was the curator at Lumbertown in Maddens Resort in the Brainerd lakes area, for 15 years, until she retired in 1996. Geraldine was a member of Bernadotte Lutheran Church in rural Lafayette, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in 4-H. She was also a member of the Winthrop Bowling League and a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Geraldine enjoyed bowling, watching western movies, and studying history. She was also an antique collector. Geraldine especially cherished the time she spent with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.

Geraldine is survived by her children, Bruce White and his wife, Rosemarie of Winthrop, Bradley White and his wife, Pamela of Winthrop, Teresa Smith and her husband, John of Darwin, Jack White and his wife, Rebecca of Pillager; grandchildren, Jason White, Peter White, Katie Floerke, Tyler White, Corey White, Kacey Gregerson, Carrie Euerle, Rebecca Smith, Brady Smith, Jacquelyn White, Shane White; great-grandchildren, Hannah White, Halle White, Keaira White, Mallory White, Luke White, Ashley White, Erin White, Lilly White, Makenna Floerke, Brynn Floerke, Wade Floerke; many other relatives and friends.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and Caroline Woods; husband, Sam White; great-granddaughter, Kendall White; brother, James Woods.
