Worthington eliminates New Ulm, GFW loses

WORTHINGTON - Worthington defeated New Ulm 25-18, 13-25, 25-22, 23-25, 15-9 in Section 3AA volleyball action Friday.

For New Ulm, Ellie Schneider had 10 kills and Katie Forst and Alley Grejtak each had nine kills. Lizzie Rummel had five kills.

Briana Sieve had 23 digs and three ace serves and Chase Schewe had 22 digs. Grejtak had 13 digs and nine blocks and Bailey Hoffmeister had 12 blocks.

New Ulm ends its season at 13-14-1.

Redwood Valley 3, GFW 2

WINTHROP - Redwood eliminated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop from the Section 3AA volleyball playoffs with a 25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 17-25, 15-12 victory Friday.

For GFW, Morgan Wenninger had 16 kills and two blocks and Carolyn Goebel had 11 kills. Katelyn Seehafer had nine kills and two blocks. Claire Leitheiser had 21 set assists and Wenninger had 18 set assists.

Kalley Busse had 31 digs and Steph Palmer had 28 digs. As a team, the Thunderbirds were 88-for-88 serving with 10 aces.

GFW ends its season at 19-9.

SW Minn. Christian 3, Wabasso 2

LUVERNE - Southwest Minnesota Christian defeated Wabasso in the Section 3A playoffs Friday, winning 25-17, 16-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13.

For Wabasso, Larissa Rohlik had 26 set assists and three ace serves. Chelsey Guetter had 14 kills, 15 digs and four blocks and Jamie Goblirsch had 19 digs.

Wabasso ends its season at 16-4-3.
