SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye, Springfield and Comfrey firefighters battled a fire with eight trucks for about three hours early Monday morning at the Lyle Heiderscheidt Trucking Shop on Brown County Road 8, three miles west of Sleepy Eye.
Sleepy Eye Fire Chief Tom Moldaschel said a timber frame building with metal sheeting and was in flames when firefighters arrived shortly after a fire call was received at about 5:30 a.m.
Moldaschel said five tanker trucks including two each from Springfield and Comfrey Fire departments were among eight fire trucks at the scene.

"It was pretty engulfed when we got there," Moldaschel said. "It's hard to say how much water we put on the fire. It was a lot, thanks to help from Springfield and Comfrey firefighters. We were at the scene until about 8:45 a.m."
Moldaschel said a substantial amount of items were destroyed in the fire including several dozen truck tires, two dump trucks, a semi trailer, skid steer and tools. He said nobody was injured in the fire.
"It's hard to say just how the fire began right now. We have a fire ideas, but we'll have the fire investigated," Moldaschel said.
