NEW ULM - Gladys Hofmeister, 97, of New Ulm died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. Gladys is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Patty Hofmeister of Prichard, W. Va., Jim and Debbie Hofmeister, Don Hofmeister, Dennis and Brenda Hofmeister all of New Ulm; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Sylvester Domeier of New Ulm; a brother, Leo Stueber of Sleepy Eye; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Hofmeister on March 27, 1991; sisters, Verna Stueber, Elizabeth (Paul) Goblirsch, Marie (Earl) Olson, Adeline (Marlowe) Halverson; and a sister-in-law, Marie Stueber.
Gladys Mary Stueber was born on May 22, 1916 in Cottonwood Township, Brown County to Edward and Lena (Ziegenhagen) Stueber. On Nov. 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Marvin C. Hofmeister at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they lived in New Ulm and she helped her husband in his business. Gladys enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, fishing, playing cards, gardening, and was an avid Twins fan. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, and the Christian Mother's Society.
