NEW ULM - Delores "Dee" Ries, 87, of New Ulm died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and will continue on Wednesday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, NORTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. To sign the guest book or to leave an on line condolence for the family go to www.mvfh.org.
Delores “Dee” Ries
Delores is survived by her son, Scott Ries of New Ulm; a sister, Elaine Preuss of Frisco, Texas, and by three nieces and two cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nippie, on Jan. 11, 2000, a brother Leroy and a sister in infancy.
Delores Annamarie Lindorf was born on Sept. 18, 1926 in New Ulm to August and Marie (Wussow) Lindorf. She graduated from New Ulm High School. On Sept. 19, 1946 Dee was united in marriage to Norbert "Nippie" Ries at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Delores had worked for Woolworth's and Randall's in New Ulm and for many years worked with her husband first in the grocery store that they owned and later in the bar that they purchased both side by side on Broadway Street in New Ulm. There she loved to socialize with the patrons of both the bar and grocery store.
In November 2003 Dee moved to assisted living at Oak Hills and lived there until entering Oak Hill Nursing home in September 2010. While living in both those places Dee love to visit with other residents, play bingo, and join in with many other activities that the nursing home offered.
