Helen Lingl

Helen Lingl, age 84, of Bird Island, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the RenVilla Nursing Home in Renville.

Services have already been held.

Helen Therese Lingl was born July 25, 1929 on the family farm at Bird Island, MN to George and Gertrude (Walter) Prokosch. She grew up at Bird Island and graduated in 1947 from St. Mary's High School. She was employed at Brookfield Seed Company in Hector and at the Renville County Welfare Office. Helen married Clarence "Pete" Lingl at St. Mary's Catholic Church on October 10, 1953, and they were blessed with six children. Helen was employed by the Bird Island Union and by Keith Scott Insurance Agency for many years. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the CCW, and was also a communion minister. Helen was also a member of the Red Hatters, the Catholic Aid Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Helen had enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and making and decorating cakes for special occasions. Even after Pete's death in 1988 Helen continued their shoe repair business especially for the tap dancers shoes.

Helen is survived by her six children: Gregory (and Julie) Lingl of St. Joseph, Kevin Lingl of New Ulm, Janel (and Scott) Baker of Osakis, Galen (and Janenne) Lingl of New Lisbon, WI, Jean (and Tom) Kokesch of New Ulm, and Joel (and Mary Beth) Lingl of Mosinee, WI; her 20 grandchildren: Charles (and Michele) Lingl, Kari Jo Lingl, Jessica (and Scott) Kasprick, Justin (and Jessica) Lingl, Angela Lingl, Sara (and Steve) Griebel, Amanda (and Steve) Baker, Zachary Lingl, Dominic (and fiance Stephanie) Baker, Hannah Baker, Derek Baker, Marisa (and Fred) Wren, Deanna Lingl, Kristina Lingl, Kalie Lingl, Jeremy Kokesch, Bryan Kokesch, Andrew Lingl, Mollie Lingl, and Jonathan Lingl; her eight great-grandchildren; her siblings: Vern (and Helen) Prokosch of Bird Island, Bernice Flood of Arroyo Grande, CA, Sister Cecelia Proksoch, OSB, of St. Joseph, Stan (and Jan) Prokosch of Bird Island.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence "Pete"?Lingl, her three infant grandchildren, her brother-in-law Daryl Flood, and one infant brother.
