Eichten nets Wabasso record

Wabasso 60, BLHS 58

HECTOR - Wabasso defeated Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in Tomahawk Conference boy's basketball Monday night.

Neil Eichten scored 31 points to lead the Rabbits. He became the school's all-time leading scorer in the process and he now has 1,484 career points, breaking Nathan Guetter's record of 1,479. Tanner Bock had 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Tate Lange had 20 points to lead BLHS and Kyle Kubesh finished with 17 points.

Wabasso hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday and BLHS hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary's on Thursday.

CM/C 82, Sleepy Eye 69

SLEEPY EYE - Cedar Mountain/Comfrey downed Sleepy Eye in a Tomahawk Conference boy's basketball game on Monday night.

Javin Larsen led CM/C with 30 points while Riley Kerkhoff and Brady Kerkhoff each scored 14 points.

Brandon Polesky scored 31 points and Austin Trebesh had 14.

Sleepy Eye will play at New Ulm Cathedral on Friday.

New Ulm Cathedral 46, Nicollet 40

NICOLLET - New Ulm Cathedral defeated Nicollet in a nonconference boy's basketball game on Monday night.

Matt Fischer led Nicollet with 14 points while Kevin Christenson added 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Collin Helget scored 13 points for New Ulm Cathedral. He also had 10 rebounds and five steals. Michael Skillings scored 10 points.

New Ulm Cathedral (6-13) will host Truman/Martin Luther on Thursday. Nicollet is at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Friday

St. Mary's 85, MVL 68

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye St. Mary's defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 85-68 in a Tomahawk Conference boy's basketball game on Monday night.

John Brandl led all scorers with 25 points for the Knights (11-6, 8-4 Tomahawk). Mike Hirsch had 17 points, David Surprenant had 14 and Jared Rothmeier added 11 for St. Mary's.

Chad Lease led the Chargers (7-13, 6-6) with 23 points, while Nick Dewanz added 11.

St. Mary's will play Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Thursday in Hector, while MVL will play Friday at Wabasso.

GFW 67,

Springfield 58 (OT)

WINTHROP - Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop defeated Springfield Monday night in a Tomahawk Conference boy's basketball game

Seth Schutte scored 25 points for GFW while teammate Jack Bussler added 24 points and he had 12 rebounds. Bussler was 11-for-12 from the free throw line towards to the end of the game to help secure the Thunderbirds' win.

Tyler Voigt scored 33 points for Springfield.

GFW (12-7, 11-2) will play at Springfield on Feb 10.
