Political parties will hold precinct caucuses tonight throughout Minnesota. The caucuses are the first step in selecting candidates for the 2014 elections.
Caucuses allow voters to express opinions on stances that their political party might adopt in a party platform.
Individuals can participate if they will be eligible to vote in their precinct in the next general election. They should be in general agreement with the principles of the political party whose caucus they attend. Participants select delegates and alternates to county conventions.
Straw polls may be taken to gage support for potential candidates for the Minnesota gubernatorial and U.S. Senate elections.
Caucuses start at 7 p.m. at three locations in Brown County.
In New Ulm, the caucuses will be held at the New Ulm High School cafeteria commons, 414 S. Payne Street.
