Lydia Skorczewski, age 91, of Marshall, formerly of New Ulm, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe with Father Craig Timmerman as the Celebrant.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at Birk Funeral Home in Ivanhoe with a Rosary at 3 p.m. and prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to mass at the church. Burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Ivanhoe. Online registry at www.birkfuneralhome.com.
Lydia was born Oct. 16, 1922 in Royal Township, Lincoln County, the daughter of John & Lena (Lukaszeski) Dastych.
She is survived by her children, Wayne (Gloria) of Marshall, MN, Gary of Appleton, MN and Terry of Kilkenny, MN; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Deutz of Waite Park, MN and sister-in-law, Wanda Dastych of Ivanhoe, MN.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Alvin; two daughters, Linda Skorczewski & Jody Portner; infant sister; brother, Stanley; sister, Viola Freed and son-in-law, Butch Portner.
