Carolyn K. Olcott, 66, of Owatonna, died suddenly on March 16, 2014, after a brain hemorrhage. She was born in Buffalo Center, IA, on December 4, 1947, to Harry and Ruth Winters, but spent most of her childhood in Owatonna. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1970 with a degree in music and years later received her masters in music education from the University of Arizona. From 1998 on, she was a dedicated strings teacher for Minneapolis Public Schools and was at Folwell School, Performing Arts Magnet, when she passed. Some of her many passions were cross-country skiing, bike riding, attending Twins' games, reading on the dock up at the lake, traveling with her friends all over the world, and making her kids unbelievably delicious Kringlas. She is survived by her children, Alison and David (Lauren), granddaughter, Carolina, and sister, Harriet (Merlyn). Any memorials can be donated to the MacPhail Center for Music, 501 S.
