NEW ULM - The New Ulm Kaiserhoff amateur baseball team did not tally a hit while getting shut out by St. Peter 11-0 in seven innings on Monday night at Johnson Park.
The Saints' Matt Lewis, a Division III All-American at St. Scholastica, made quick work of Kaiserhoff, garnering eight strikeouts in six innings on the mound.
"Our bats are pretty quiet right now," said Kaiserhoff coach Tim Reinke. "A couple games in a row, we aren't making solid contact with our bats. We faced two good pitchers these last few games ... you don't see that caliber every day."

Starter Rick Jensen surrendered one run on two hits in his first three innings on the mound for Kaiserhoff this season.
The fourth inning is when things went south for Kaiserhoff, tagging Jensen with eight of his nine surrendered runs and seven of his nine surrendered hits.
"He gave us three good first innings, then our defense broke down a little bit and he was getting tired," Reinke said of Jensen, who threw 43 of his 93 pitches in the fourth inning.
Jensen took the loss and was pulled after 3 2/3 innings in favor of Dominic Camacho, who did not give up a hit until the seventh inning.
"Dominic came in and kept them pretty much shut down," Reinke said. "He throws the ball a little slower and off-speed. It kept us in the game for a while."
In the seventh, C.J. Siewert singled to lead off the inning and was eventually driven in on a triple by Ryan Kapsner. Catcher and No. 2 hitter Billy Hanson then drove in Kapsner with a sacrifice fly to center field for the second out of the inning and the 11th run of the game.
For the bottom of the seventh inning, St. Peter brought in Jeff Wenner, who retired the side while tallying a swinging strikeout in two of the three batters faced.
"That's something we're going to have to change with our approach," Reinke said. "We've got to look for better pitches earlier in the count. Once we get behind in the count, then we're on the defense and the pitcher is having some fun then."
