Richard Albert Zuhlsdorf was born in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota on July 15, 1941 to the late William and Frances (Riebel) Zuhlsdorf. Richie was the youngest of his family, seven sisters and five brothers.

Richie attended school at St. Mary's in Sleepy Eye. After attending school Richie worked at Pietrus, Woodridge Construction, and sheering sheep. He married Cheryl Hammerschmidt on September 11, 1971 in St. Paul, MN. In 1980 Richie started his own company, Zuhlsdorf Roofing in Sleepy Eye, MN. Richie was a lifelong resident of Sleepy Eye. Over the years Richie touched many lives through his outgoing personality and successful business.

Many of you will remember Richie with his great sense of humor, heart of gold, free spirit and being the true life of the party. Richie took great pride in his family; especially his son Shayne, grandsons Brodie and Wyatt, and his three neighbor boys Santos, Danny and David. Richie always enjoyed being outdoors; hunting wherever-whenever possible, he hunted bear, deer, and birds of all sorts. In his younger years he enjoyed being a part of the trap shooting teams, and being creative in ways to make life enjoyable. In his later years he enjoyed spending time on his land near the Minnesota River getting into mud and mischief with his brother Albert, spending time out four-wheeling and Wednesday or Friday nights eating burgers at the Eagles-Orchid Inn with family.

Richie was survived by: son, Shayne Zuhlsdorf of New Ulm; two grandsons, Brodie and Wyatt Zuhlsdorf of New Ulm; sisters, Gladys Zarn, Bernice "Toby" (Lester) Marsh, Catherine (Pete) Meyer and Eleanor (Lloyd) Strong; brother, Albert (Paulene) Zuhlsdorf, all of Sleepy Eye; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Richie is preceded in death by parents, William and Frances; infant daughter, Amanda; sisters, Evelyn (Albert) Eckstein, Angeline "Marge" (Ray) Mishler and Delores (Wendelin) Eckstein; brothers, Leonard, Bernard "Dago"(Joan), Donald (Gloria), and Jerome and Joseph in infancy; nephews, Donald Eckstein, James "Jimmy" Zuhlsdorf, and great-nephew Cole Mertz.
