UNION HOSPITAL TO START NURSE SCHOOL
Eight Students Will Be Taken During First Year.
Girls of New Ulm and vicinity will now have an opportunity to study nursing without being obliged to go to hospitals in other cities. This was decided by the advisory board of the Union hospital last week when it decided to start a school of nursing at the Union hospital.
Will Take Eight Students.
The school will be known as the Union Hospital School of Nursing and according to present plans eight students will be taken on during the first year. The rooms formerly used for mud bath purposes have been re-modeled and will be used as the home for the school. A complete course in nursing will be offered and when completed the student will be able to become a registered nurse. The school will be opened immediately and application blanks are now obtainable.
Fills Long-Felt Want.
The action of the advisory board in determining to start this school fills a long-felt want in New Ulm and will give to many a girl the opportunity she has longed for. Quite a number of the young ladies of this city are at present taking nursing courses in other cities. Many of these would have taken the same course here had it been possible for them to do so.
There is no doubt but that the nursing school will add to the prestige of the city and will no doubt gain a reputation as good as that which the Union Hospital has already built up. People come here from near and far and it can well be said that New Ulm is well-known in the Northwest for its hospitals and eminent physicians and surgeons.
