In this hilarious farce where accusations, mistaken identities and romances run wild, two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent’s doors open. Little do the nuns know that two reporters and former fiancees, Paul and Sally, are hot on their trail.
Paul and Sally go undercover as a priest and a nun, but their presence, and the addition of a new nun, creates paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone attempts to save the convent and reconnect with lost loves.
Wendy Tuttle, the play’s director, said that she is excited to see some new faces on board for this play.
“Part of what I’m excited about is there are some new faces to the usual suspects that are in the shows, one of which was in the first middle school play that District 88 did [Tyler Brigger],” Tuttle said. “He was in that one and has moved back into town recently and I’m so happy for that. And then Lauren [Curtis] has never been on stage before, so it’s really nice and they’re doing a very good job. … The story line is fun and it’s sweet and everybody should leave the theater feeling better than they did when they came in, and that’s always a plus.”
Curtis plays the role of Sally, while Brigger takes on the role of Paul.
Tuttle said how glad she was to not only have such a great cast but also a great crew.
“There are people involved that are so remarkable,” Tuttle said. “A show can’t go on without good backstage support, and I am so fortunate to have amazing people to do backstage work.”
Tuttle listed Jay Tambornino, Carolyn Todd, Jerilyn Kjellberg and Tom and Deb Kaehler as “amazing” members of the backstage crew.
“And then there’s three women who, all they have to do is stand next to each other on stage and it’s hysterical because they have such good charisma, and that’s Vickie [Tambornino], Marie [Guggisberg] and Michelle [Gag],” Tuttle said.
With a great cast, crew and story to tell, Tuttle said that the play should be a lot of fun for pretty much all ages.
“It is a show, except for maybe the very young, because there is a lot of physicality to it, that I really think anybody maybe 9-10 and above would enjoy it,” Tuttle said. “My grandchildren are coming and they’re really excited.”
