LAFAYETTE — A Hanska woman won a powder puff division and the 9,000 pound division and finished second in the 7,500 pound division of an antique tractor pull Saturday.

Janet Anderson won a powder puff division with a pull of 233.58 feet on a 1952 Massey-Harris 44 tractor.

Anderson, who works at the Green Mill in New Ulm, said she enjoys tractor pulls so much, she competes against women in powder puffs and against men in other divisions.

“Tractor pulls are my hobby,” Anderson said. “My boyfriend and I go to them in Lafayette, Winnebago next weekend and Cobden in a few weeks.”

“Massey-Harris tractors work well in the field and win trophies too,” said “Smokin'” Joe Blackstad of rural St. James, who owns the tractors that are maintained in the family shop.
