NEW ULM — Live concertina music by Nick Stadick set the stage for the KNUJ downtown Farmers Market on German Street Saturday.
Darrell Platz of rural Comfrey had a good selection of fresh vegetables including beets and zucchini, kohlrabi, onions, cabbage, radishes, baked goods and jams.
Unlike many parts of Minnesota, Platz, who gardens on 10 acres near Comfrey, said its been a wet summer growing season for him.
When it isn’t wet, he’s ready for that with irrigation.
His wife Jolene was selling monster, peanut butter, molasses, snickerdoodle, salted peanut chews and chocolate chip cookies.
Claire Woller was selling sugar cookies.
Angie Martinka of Woof ’em Down Bakery sold dog treats including apple and cheddar varieties with all natural ingredients.
Allie Lee of zeitgeist gifting was selling polymer clay earrings and accessories.
New Om Holistic Wellness featured magnesium mist, advertising to be sprayed on skin to relieve muscle cramps and soreness, promote better sleep, reduce inflammation and promote hydration.
Exfoliating soap bags were said to exfoliate and rejuvenate skin, extend soap life and are machine washable.
Farmers’ markets are open 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays between 1st and 3rd North on German Street and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays at Cash Wise Foods. Markets continue through Oct. 14.
