NEW ULM — Friday afternoon downtown New Ulm took on a maroon shade as Cathedral High School led parade down Minnesota Street in honor of homecoming.
The parade was led by the Greyhound marching band starting from Cathedral High School, passing by St. Anthony’s to North State Street and down 5th Street North and turning onto Minnesota Street.
Most of the students gathered to cheer on the parade near the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools campus, but many parents and alumni gathered along Minnesota Street. There were several residents waiting downtown wearing the Cathedral colors.
The community was able to cheer on the homecoming court including, Homecoming King and Queen Ben Blomberg and Helen Fischer, as well as the Cathedral High school athletes.
Later in the evening, The Cathedral Greyhounds would host their homecoming game against Madelia.
An old-fashion fire truck was the lead vehicle in Cathedral’s homecoming parade, carrying several student athletes.
