Mainline TH 14 concrete paving nearly complete

Four-lane anticipated to open to the public by the end of November 2023

COURTLAND — The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) District 7 representatives said concrete paving for mainline TH 14 is nearly complete at the Oct. 24 weekly project update at the Courtland Community Center.

With about 1.5 miles remaining, it is anticipated that the mainline portion of paving will be complete by Thursday, Oct. 26.

Weather dependent, U.S. Highway 14 will be opened to the traveling public by the end of November 2023.

Additional remaining work that will need to be completed prior to opening TH 14 to the traveling public includes all concrete widening areas, turn-lanes and crossovers from the Minnesota Paving and Materials (MPM) driveway to Minnesota Valley Lutheran (MVL) intersections; a median concrete barrier wall from MPM driveway to MVL intersections; all concrete and gutter from the MPM driveway to MVL intersections, all lighting systems from the MPM driveway to MVL intersections; all signage and striping, safety devices (crash attenuators and barriers); all median turf establishment and stabilization and all bituminous shoulders.

The traveling public should be aware that the intersection of CSAH 21 and TH 14 is currently closed to allow for the progression of grading and paving work for westbound and eastbound lanes.

Bituminous paving work in the area of CSAH 37 and the “on & off” ramps and bridge are open to local traffic.

The final Nicollet to New Ulm highway project public meeting begins at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023 at the Courtland Community Center.

The public and local traffic are encouraged to travel with caution within project limits and to please be aware construction activities may require roadway condition changes within a relatively short period of time.

Hoffmann Construction Co. and MnDOT project staff urge the public to not travel within project limits unless it is to your residence or that of an acquaintance or local business.

Avoid conversations or interaction with construction workers or vehicles as much as possible. Distraction may prevent work progression and can be dangerous.

The public is asked to not access or otherwise visit or explore within the construction work area when construction activities are not actively occurring.

The public is encouraged to sign up for more timely notifications via email, Twitter or Facebook at www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/14newulmtomankato/index.html
