Brown County Sherriff’s Office issues no wake zone
LAKE HANSKA — The Brown County Sheriff’s Office issued a no wake restriction of 5 miles per hour on Lake Hanska Saturday due to the current high water levels.
The restriction is an effort to prevent excessive shoreline damage and property along the shore. The restriction will expire 30 days after June 22, 2024 or when water levels return to normal.
No wake zones are declared in lake and rivers or water bodies near the shore. Any vessel operating in a speed zone posted as “Idle Speed – No Wake” must operate at the minimum speed that allows you to maintain steering and make headway.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind those who are enjoying spending time on the lakes and waters to always wear your life jackets.
