The German band Musikverein Herborn-Seelbach performed big band music on the Herborn stage at Bavarian Blast. Edwin Gabriel served as band director with Carsten Wenzel on lead vocals. Friday’s performance marked the 40th anniversary of the bands first performance in New Ulm. Gabriel said their first came to New Ulm when the festival was called Heritage Fest.

Erwin Gabriel, the musical director for Musikverein Herborn-Seelbach holds up a program from Heritage Fest 1984, when his band first played in New Ulm. He said this year’s concert is the eighth time playing in New Ulm. Gabriel said New Ulm was a great place to play. “You can feel the emotions,” he said. “It is something special.”
