New Ulm Police issue counterfeit fraud alert

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Police Department issued a fraud alert Friday regarding counterfeit Chamber Dollars.

“One of our members reported a customer attempting to use face Chamber Dollars that were color photocopies printed on regular paper and cut out,” said New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Sarah Warmka.

She said New Ulm Police are aware of the situation and are investigating it.

“We ask all members to be vigilant and inspect any Chamber Dollars received. Authentic Chamber Dollars are printed on yellow card stock, have identifying serial numbers on the front, have a ‘best if used by’ date stamped on the front, and have the name of the purchaser hand-written on the back,” said Warmka.

She asked anyone coming across any suspicious Chamber Dollars or encountering anything unusual to contact New Ulm Police at 507-233-6750 immediately.

“Thank you for keeping an eye out to help project all businesses in our community during this busy holiday season. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns,” said Warmka.

Starting at $4.38/week.
