MnDOT returns for the stumps
NEW ULM – In November, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) began removing trees infected with Emerald Ash Borer along Broadway boulevard. This week, MnDOT returned for the stumps.
MnDOT Public Engagement Coordinator Doris Degenstein said there were 150 infected trees along the Broadway corridor. All were removed within the last few months, but the stumps remained. Over the past week MnDOT staff began grinding away the remains of the infected ash trees. The stump grinding operation was completed Thursday.
Degenstein said crews are expect to return in the near future to dispose of the remaining wood chips.
