NEW ULM – Monday, the New Ulm Sisters Cities Commission posthumously honored Keith Rolloff with the commission Recognition and Appreciation award for years of faithful service.
Rolloff served several years on the Sisters Cities Commission, helping with the Han Joohs Cultural Exchange program and was regular volunteer at the Cash Wise brat stand. Outside of his work with the Sisters Cities Commission, Rolloff volunteered with downtown flower watering. Rolloff died Sept. 14, 2024.
Sisters Cities Commissioner Brian Filzen presented Rolloff’s daughter, Kim Hanson with the plaque recognizing her fathers service to the commission.
Filzen said when the commission was deciding who to give the award to, he kept thinking about Rolloff’s smile.
“He always had a smile on his face,” Filzen said. “Whether he was setting of the brat stand or getting ready to start a Sister Cities Commission meeting.”
Filzen said the commission agreed it was the right time to honor him.
After accepting the award for her father, Hanson said her father loved volunteering with the Sisters Cities Commission.
“He only really got into volunteering after he retired, but he really embraced it,” Hanson said. “He loved it, even on those 100 degree days at the brat stand. When he talked about you guys, he was really happy and he did smile.”
