No injuries in train and semi crash near Lake Crystal

A semi turning on 200th Street from Highway 60 was struck by a Union Pacific train Wednesday afternnon. The collision occurred at 2:14 p.m. near Lake Crystal. No injuries were reported.
The Union Pacific train was carrying a mix of tanker cars and box cars. The tanker cars were carrying ethanol, but none of the cars sustained any damage or leaks from the accident. The semi was carrying paper products and packing materials.

LAKE CRYSTAL – A Union Pacific train collided with a semi-trailer Wednesday afternoon in rural Lake Crystal.

The accident occurred at 2:13 p.m. at 200th Street and Highway 60. The train was traveling west when it struck the semi driven by Jerry Lee Budeau, 59, of Bismark, North Dakota. According the report from Sheriff’s Office, Budeau said he was traveling on west on Highway 60 but turned on 200th Street, crossing the track with other vehicles due to the Highway 60 construction road closure in Lake Crystal.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
