NEW ULM – A delegation from Aachen, Germany will be visiting New Ulm as part of Region Nine tour.

On Thursday, Sept. 19 Region Nine Development Commission (RNDC) in welcoming four county commissioners and business leaders from the Aachen Region of Germany. Region Nine is of interest to Aachen leadership due to its shared strengths in agriculture, manufacturing, higher education, and aviation.

During the tour, the Aachen Delegation and Region Nine representatives and stakeholders will lead discussions ranging from sustainable energy systems to flood recovery. The Aachen Region experienced a major flood in 2021 and the insights on their recovery efforts will be a key topic.

The group will meet at the RNDC office at 3 Civic Center Plaza, Mankato, and will travel to New Ulm for breakfast and introductions at Turner Hall.

The tour schedule is as follows:

7:30 – 8:05 am: Bus Trip from RNDC Office to New Ulm (Turner Hall)

8:15 – 9:40 am: Breakfast and introductions from Aachen Delegation and RNDC (Turner Hall)

9:45 – 10:00 am: Introduction to flood discussion (Turner Hall)

10:10 – 11:00 am: Tour New Ulm levee and Flood/Emergency Management discussion

11:10 am – 1:00 pm: Lunch and networking at Schells Brewery

1:00 – 1:40 pm: Travel to RISE Manufacturing in Mankato

1:40 – 2:20 pm: Tour of RISE Manufacturing

2:30 – 4:00 pm: Bus tour through Greater Mankato to Mankato Regional Airport
