Park and Rec. Report

•Candy Cane Swim Friday, Dec. 20 during regular open swim 4 to 8 p.m. Ninja Cross from 4 to 6 p.m., log roller 6:15 to 8 p.m. and a craft activity in the party room.

•Rec Center Holiday hours are 5 a.m. to 12 p.m Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. Closed all day Wednesday Dec. 25; 5 a.m. to 12 pm Dec. 31 and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 1.

Christmas Break Activities:

• Monday, Dec. 23 open skate and hockey 11:45-1:15 p.m. at the Civic Center, open gym, playground all day and open swim 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rec Center.

• Thursday, Dec. 26 open skate and hockey 11:45-1:15 p.m. at the Civic Center and open gym and playground all day at the Rec Center.

• Friday, Dec. 27 open gym and playground all day at the Rec Center, Open swim 2 to 8 p.m. and Rock on Ice (ages 12 and up) 7 to 9 p.m. at the Civic Center.

• Saturday, Dec. 28 open gym and playground all day and open swim 12 to 4 p.m. at the Rec Center. Open skate 11:45-1:15 at the Civic Center.

• Sunday, Dec. 29 open gym and playground all day and open swim 12 to 4 p.m. at the Rec Center. Open skate 1:15-2:45 at the Civic Center.

• Monday, Dec. 30 – open skate and hockey 11:45-1:15 p.m. at the Civic Center, open gym, playground all day and open swim 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rec Center.

• Tuesday, Dec.31 open gym and playground until 12 p.m. Noon Year’s Eve Celebration at the Civic Center 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. FREE admission!

• Wednesday, Jan. 1 open gym and playground 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., open swim 12 to 3 p.m. at the Rec Center

• Medicare Supplement or Medicare Replacement (Advantage) Plan Memberships need to be renewed Jan. 1. Changes in insurance benefits are expected for 2025. Many programs will still be covered, but maybe by a different program that requires looking up information using insurance cards. Save time by bringing card with when renewing, along with a Fitness ID number from insurance company. Park and Rec. staff cannot look these up or renew until Jan. 1 or after.

• Racquetball Courts 2, 3, 4 closed for HVAC work. Court 1 is open and available for use

• Vogel Fieldhouse gym courts and track are open. HVAC work will continue through December. Expect minor interruptions and re-routes as the project progresses. The rest of the Rec Center continues to be open and operating as normal. Thank you for understanding while we improve our infrastructure.

• Tot Swim is offered Wednesdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Zero depth area only and children must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Admission is $3 per child. 12-Punch card available for $27

•Tot Gym is offered Monday and Fridays from 9:30-11 a.m.

• Open Broom ball (non-checking) is offered Wednesday nights at the Civic Center from 7:30-9 p.m.

• Rock on Ice runs Friday nights 7 to 9 p.m. and runs through February. The program is for middle and high schoolers, age 12 and up. Admission is $5.50. Skate rentals available for $3. No trainers allowed on the ice during this program.

• Red Cross Lifeguard Training is offered throughout the year, based on participant interest/schedule. Contact Aquatics and Fitness Coordinator bend@newulmmn.gov to get on the list.

Winter-Spring Activities Guide will be released December 21 with registration beginning January 2 at 8 a.m.
