SSTC seeks director for summer production of ‘Music Man’
NEW ULM – State Street Theater is holding an open director call for an upcoming production of The Music Man! The musical follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.
Other roles State Street hopes to fill are Vocal Director, Stage Manager, Chorographer, Producer, Set Design and Builder, Lighting technician, Sound technician, Spotlight operator, Props Coordinator, and Costume Designer.
Auditions may start as early as April; rehearsals will begin in May.
Performances will run: 7 p.m. on Friday, July 25, Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27.
Those interested in this opportunity and who want to learn more, including director interviews, please contact info@statestreetnewulm.org or 507-359-9990 by Friday, February 28.
