St. Paul’s Lutheran School advances to Math Counts state competition
NEW ULM – The St. Paul’s official Math Counts team of Eden Carlovsky, Siri Zahrt, Miriam Bakke, and Ella Schauland, as well as the other team members, scored well at the Chapter Math Counts Competition at Minnesota State University on Friday, February 7.
St. Paul’s top team took first place overall. Other public and private schools from Sleepy Eye, New Ulm, Mankato, and other areas were also represented at this meet.
Individually, Miriam Bakke from St. Paul’s finished in second place, and Ella Schauland from St. Paul’s finished in third place.
St. Paul’s first-place team finish means they qualified for the State Competition on March 7-8 at the Crown Plaza in Plymouth, MN. This puts four qualifying St. Paul’s students in the top 150 in the state for the schools and individuals that compete. This is the sixth straight year that St. Paul’s has qualified students for this state competition.
