SLEEPY EYE – National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Week was celebrated by FFA members nationwide from February 14-21, 2025.
The Sleepy Eye FFA Chapter was very active throughout FFA Week. To start out the celebration, Sleepy Eye hosted a Blacklight student dance for all 7-12th graders on Friday, February 14 which was attended by 70 students.
On Monday, Feb.17, thirty-one Junior High Members and Chapter Officers attended a bowling trip to Springfield Lanes.
There were dress-up days for K-12 students and staff each day along with an emblem hunt. Dress up days included: Hat Day, America Day, Camo Day, and Blue and Gold Day. We also had an Emblem Hunt where we hid a FFA emblem each day and put a clue in the announcements. The student who found the emblem first got a FFA box of popcorn.
In addition, the FFA officers had trivia questions each day that high school students could answer for a prize as well as an adult coloring contest where the staff could color an owl and win a prize.

Thirty-eight Sleepy Eye FFA members taught the 5th and 6th graders about numerous types of safety during the Safety Carnival on Wednesday, February19, 2025. Winners received FFA T-shirts, water bottles, FFA cups, and more. The elementary winning coloring pages are displayed in the Ag. Hallway.
An appreciation breakfast was held Wednesday morning where officers made egg bakes and prepared fruit for the breakfast. All Sleepy Eye Public staff, Ag. advisory board members, school board, administration, and top-level supporters were invited to the breakfast.
The chapter also held a Safety Carnival for the 5th and 6th graders from Sleepy Eye Public and St. Mary’s where 38 FFA members participated. The purpose of the Safety Carnival was to inform and educate the elementary students about many different areas of safety including: grain, animals, tractors, machinery, fire, lawn mowers, lake safety, chemicals, and more.
Sleepy FFA Officers taught the K-4th grade students about where their food and fiber comes from through an Ag. in the Classroom Programs. The FFA Officers went to the elementary classrooms to share information about Minnesota agriculture including the top commodities that Minnesota farmers grow and raise.
The Sleepy Eye FFA celebrated throughout the week with over 1,000,000 FFA members across the country, sharing their passion and knowledge for FFA and agriculture.
