18th annual NU Career Expo slated for March 26

NEW ULM – The 18th Annual Career Expo is 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. March 26 at the New Ulm Civic Center (1212 N Franklin Street, New Ulm).

The cost for businesses to participate is $25 for Chamber members and $50 for non-members, but the committee is dedicated to having as many businesses represented as possible. There is also the option to provide prizes in lieu of a registration fee to use for the newly added Game Show/Storytelling activity.

Also new this year, the Chamber is offering sponsorships. Any business interested in sponsoring the Career Expo, please contact the Chamber. This event is a partnership with businesses and area schools to target both 8th graders and 10th graders for a career exploration experience.

During this event, about 800 students will engage with employees and interactive activities that highlight careers within your industry or business. Exhibitors answer questions about education, necessary skills, wages, and opportunities within their own industry. Career exploration events are significant, because they introduce your future workforce to careers before they enter the workforce, college, or other training programs. Interactive displays are highly encourage to help keep students in engaged.

The schedule for the day:

· 8:30 a.m. Businesses arrive and set up their booth.

· 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. 8th grade groups come through the exhibits only.

· 11:30 – 12:00 p.m. A quick lunch provided for the exhibitors and event volunteers.

· 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. 10th graders come through. Half of the students will start in the exhibit hall and half in the Game Show/Storytelling. They will switch after 1 hour.
