NEW ULM — Dr. Brett Meyer DC, recently opened a new gunsmith shop just in time for hunting season in a garage behind his home at 115 Washington Street N.
With more than 10 years gunsmithing experience and a passion for building and working on rifles, Meyer’s specialty is custom hunting, target, and competition rifles.
His business, Apex Custom Rifles will repair many types of firearms along with custom builds, re-barreling, threading services, machining, cleaning and many other gunsmith services.
“My wife’s grandfather was a master gunsmith in Oslo, N.D. He built guns for people all over the country,” Meyer said. “I hung out with him and learned from him.”
Business hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and by appointment.
Meyer, a Breckenridge, S.D. native, also enjoys hunting but said gunsmithing is his hobby.
You may know him better as a chiropractor with Dr. Randy Verschaetse, DC, at Axis Chiropractic, PA, 509 Center St., New Ulm.
