New Ulm Police

• Received a call at 4:02 p.m. Monday from Jefferson Elementary School about a 7-year-old girl who left with a non-custodial parent. With help, the school located the girl at Vogel Fieldhouse. The foster parents were contacted about the situation. A report went to Brown County Human Services.

• Took a theft report at Wal-Mart at 7:10 p.m. Friday in which a 68-year-old Mankato woman “ticket switched” items on 18 different dates from April through September for a total theft amount of $1,493.03. Video surveillance showed a woman scanning items like candy bars and more costly items in a bag at self checkout. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for felony theft.

• Took a report of a bicycle keyed at 12:01 p.m. Friday at 300 N. Broadway. The bike owner said he believes the suspect is a 55-year-old New Ulm woman who lives in the same apartment. Damage was estimated at $200. She denied it. Video surveillance showed the woman was not responsible for the damage.

• Responded to a report of a student making a threat at Riverbend Area Learning Center at 9:42 a.m. Friday. A 10-year-old New Ulm boy admitted to making comments and left the school with his father. Reports went to Brown County Probation, Human Services and Attorney’s Office for review of threats of violence.

Brown County Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a vehicle in the ditch on CR 25, near Grandview Road, Sigel Township, New Ulm at 12:39 a.m. Sunday. Deputies discovered a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with major damage. Frederick Peter Moldan, 65, Sleepy Eye, was driving westbound on CR 25, failed to negotiate a curve, left the road, hit a driveway approach, went airborne, rolled end over end coming to a rest in a field. Allina Ambulance and New Ulm Fire and Rescue were dispatched to extricate and treat Moldan for crash injuries. Life Link Air Ambulance later transported Moldan to Hennepin County Medical Center for unknown injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 8:14 a.m. Monday at Highway 25 and 255th Avenue, Faxon Township, Sibley County. A 2018 Audi driven by Laura Eileen Lanz, 45, St. Paul, was westbound on Highway 25 when it collided with a 1995 Chevrolet driven by a 15-year-old male driver that was southbound on 255th Avenue. Lanz was transported to Ridgeview Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers wore seat belts. Assisting were the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, Belle Plaine Fire Dept. and Ridgeview Ambulance.
