Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash with life-threatening injuries at 4:38 a.m. Nov. 17 on TH 4, Sleepy Eye, Brown County. Jesus Pablo Zavala, 31, Faribault, was driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on TH 4, left the road and crashed. He wore a seat belt and was transported to Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Alcohol was not involved. Sleepy Eye Police, Fire and EMS, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Air Care assisted.

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash with injuries at 6:52 a.m. Thursday at Highway 14/340th Avenue, Burnstown Township, Brown County. Skyler James Yates, 17, Springfield, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Highway 14 when he struck a deer. He wore a seat belt. A passenger, Jerry Dean Miller, 70, Springfield, was transported to Springfield clinic with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was not involved. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Ambulance assisted.

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without injuries at 8:54 a.m. Wednesday on TH 15 and 30th Street, Round Grove Township, McLeod County. Gerald Hillard Rannow, 76, Glencoe, was driving a 1995 Peterbilt semi truck/trailer northbound on Highway 15 when he collided with a 2006 Ford F350 pickup driven northbound on Highway 15 by Samuel Paul Bearden, 52, Gibbon. Both drivers wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved. The McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, Brownton Fire, Allina Ambulance and the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation assisted.

New Ulm Police

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without reported injuries at 1106 S. Broadway at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday. Janice Harmening, 82, Courtland drove a 2011 Kia Sportage that collided with a parked 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, then hit the Century 21 Koeckeritz Realty building. Damage was minor to the front and driver’s side of the Kia, minor to the passenger front side of the Chevrolet and minor to the building.

• Cited a 14-year-old New Ulm male for tobacco on school grounds at New Ulm High School at 9:50 a.m. Thursday. A report was done for documentation.
