New Ulm Police
• Took a skip-scanning report from Walmart at 7:21 p.m. Monday. A 43-year-old Winthrop woman cited for for theft for two incidents Oct. 22-Nov. 12 totaling $102.32. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a disturbance call at 2:53 p.m. Tuesday at 2201 N. Broadway. A 52-year-old Evan woman said she and a 76-year-old Sleepy Eye man got into a disagreement, she told him she was going to call police and he took her cell phone and refused to give it back. The woman called police. The man left before officer’s arrived. Police are waiting to hear from the man.
• Took a dog bite report at 5th St. N. and Franklin at 4:12 p.m. Tuesday. A 42-year-old New Ulm man was walking when he saw teenagers walking a dog on a leash. The dog bit him when he passed them, puncturing his skin under his thigh. He sought treatment at New Ulm Medical Center. A report went to police animal control officers.
• Got a call at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday from a 34-year-old New Ulm man who said his ex-girlfriend, a 43-year-old Gaylord woman, made suicidal statements on Facebook Messenger. The man went to Gaylord and transported the woman to a Mankato crisis center. The man said he wanted it documented that he believed a protection order was issued by the Court that the two can’t have contact with each other. Officers were not able to locate documentation preventing the couple from having contact. A report went to Brown County Probation.
• Stopped a vehicle for expired registration at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday. The driver, a 21-year-old New Ulm man exited the vehicle and confronted police. The driver was cited for driving after revocation, no proof of insurance and open cannabis package in a motor vehicle. A report was done for documentation.
• Stopped a vehicle for an illegal turn Tuesday. Police detected a marijuana odor coming from inside the vehicle, searched it and found small marijuana baggies and paraphernalia. An 18-year-old New Ulm man was cited for open cannabis package in a motor vehicle, use of cannabis and an improper turn. A report went to Brown County Probation.
• Responded to a report of a 63-year-old New Ulm woman having a mental health crisis on 6th St. S. at 2:05 a.m. Thursday. She voiced concern for her husband’s mental health, but police believed her mental health was causing concern. Officers left, were called back to the residence but the woman refused to be taken to New Ulm Medical Center. Officers contacted the woman’s daughter who said she could stay with her for the evening after officers transported her there. A report went to Brown County Human Services.
