New Ulm Police

• Spoke with a 36-year-old New Ulm woman at 3:34 p.m. Friday who said she received threatening text messages on her cell phone.  Messages included a threat to kill the women but did not ask for any financial information to personal information.  Report for documentation. 

• Took a report at 3:36 p.m. Friday from a 52-year-old New Ulm women who said she fell victim to a scam.  The scammer stated they were from Xfinity who stated they could reduce her monthly bill if she provided gift cards for Target.  The women purchased four gift cards, totaling $600. She provided the gift card numbers to the scammer. A report was done for documentation.

• Took a call at 4:11 p.m. Friday of drug activity in an apartment at the Broadway Haus, 300 N. Broadway. The renters are a 61-year-old New Ulm man and a 53-year-old New Ulm women.  The complainant said they were going to contact the city housing department.  A report went to Brown County Probation. 

• Spoke with 21-year-old New Ulm woman at 5:11 p.m Saturday who stated she received a fake W2 in the mail under her name. The company name was Sandbox LLC with a New Ulm address.  The woman said she would contact the IRS and the Social Security Administration. 

• Took Sunday call from a 22-year-old Lafayette man who said his mother-in-law, a 42-year-old woman from Mankato was beaten up by her husband, a 44-year-old from Mankato, while the two were staying at a New Ulm motel. Officers viewed a video of the assault.  Officers were unable to locate or contact the female.  The report is under investigation. 

• Responded to a driving complaint report Sunday.  Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Amboy, was arrested for DWI.  He was transported to the Brown County Jail. He was issued a citation for fourth-degree DWI.  A copy of the report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s office.

• Took a Monday report of a female purchasing a chime scan reload phone card for $500 from Kwik Trip.  It was later discovered that $200 of the payment was made with counterfeit bills.  Kwik Trip obtained a license plate from the suspect.  A report went to investigators.

• Took a Monday report of a client being dropped off at Enterprise North.  The business was not open, and the non-verbal client waited outside for approximately 40 minutes.  A neighboring business noticed the man and invited him to warm up.  Officers requested an ambulance be sent as it appeared the man’s hands might have been frostbitten.  The man was transported by ambulance to the New Ulm Medical Center Emergency Room and found to have sustained no injuries. He was later returned to his group home. It was learned the man was 40 years old from Springfield and transported to Enterprise North by an area transportation company. A report went to Brown County Human Services.

• Responded to a call regarding mental health issues at 11:51 p.m. Saturday in Lake Hanska Township. A man was transported to the New Ulm Medical Center Emergency Room. No damage or injuries were reported. A report went to Brown County Human Services.
