New Ulm Police
• Arrested a 62-year-old New Ulm man at 4:03 p.m. Feb. 28 on a Brown County warrant for not returning to jail. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a report at 10:20 p.m. Feb. 28 of a 17-year-old New Ulm girl who ran away from home. Officers found the girl at a New Ulm residence. Police said the girl was not injured. A report for consideration of domestic assault of the 17-year-old went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office. Reports also sent to Brown County Human Services and the Committee Against Domestic Abuse (CADA).
•Stopped a vehicle for driving conduct at 11:37 p.m. Feb. 28 at Broadway and 19th St. S. for driving conduct. Officers found marijuana in the purse of a 52-year-old New Ulm female passenger. The marijuana was seized and the woman was issued a warning. A report went to Brown County Probation.
• Officers arrested a 35-year-old New Ulm man on a Nicollet County warrant at 9:44 a.m. Saturday. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was done for documentation.
• Responded to an ambulance call at 9:48 a.m. Saturday involving a 51-year-old New Ulm man. Officers were concerned for the man’s mental health and possible drug use. A report went to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety regarding driver’s license restrictions involving drug and alcohol use.
• Took a vandalism report of a tire damaged and rear window smashed at 11:27 a.m. Saturday. Damage was estimated at $300. A report was done for documentation.
• Arrested a 33-year-old Lafayette man at 8:14 p.m. Sunday and transported him to the Brown County Jail. He was charged with felony firearm possession, open cannabis package in a motor vehicle, fourth-degree cannabis possession and no proof of insurance. A 39-year-old New Ulm female passenger was cited for open cannabis package in a motor vehicle.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash report without reported injuries at Broadway and 19th North Street at 10:31 a.m. Saturday. A 2017 Chevrolet Trax driven eastbound by Steven Duane Visher, 70, Lake Crystal, tried to merge into the inside lane and collided with an eastbound 2017 Ford Expedition driven by Joy Margaret Bassett, 64, New Ulm. Damage was minor to the front passenger side of the Ford and minor to the rear driver’s side of the Chevrolet. Both drivers wore seat belts.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash report without reported injuiries at German Street and 1st South Street at 11:26 a.m. Saturday. A 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Anthony Christopher Powers, 29, Eagle Lake, was southbound, stopped at a stop sign, then proceeded into the intersection and collided with the rear passenger side of a 2022 Ram 1500 driven westbound by Chad Alan Savoy, 50, New Uilm. Damage was moderate to the rear passenger side of the Ram and moderate to the front end of the Malibu. Both drivers wore seat belts.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without reported injuries at 12:44 p.m. Sunday at North Highland and Oak Street. A 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven on North Highland by Jamisen Craig Frederickson, 18, New Ulm, was in the roundabout and hit the side of a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, driven westbound on Oak St. and into the roundabout by Ali Marie Lundgren, 40, New Ulm. Damage was moderate to the driver side of the Traverse and minor to the front end of the Malibu. Both drivers wore seat belts.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash without reported injuries at 6:19 p.m. Feb. 28 on the 400 block, North Broadway. A 2013 Ford Taurus driven northbound by Parker Lewis Schwartz, 18, Fairfax, was in the inside lane, moved into the outside lane and struick a 2011 Dodge Ram driven by Stephan Michael Kostoff, 41, New Ulm. Damage was moderate to the Ford and minor to the Dodge.
