New Ulm Police
• Took a report at 4:32 p.m Friday from a 63-year-old New Ulm man who said he was assaulted by a 76-year-old New Ulm woman who brought packages to his apartment and allegedly hit him in the face, breaking his glasses. The woman denied a physical assault occurred. No injuries were detected. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for review.
• Stopped a vehicle for expired registration at 12:55 a.m. Saturday. Impairment signs were detected on the driver, a 24-year-old Franklin man. Four marijuana packages were found. The driver passed field sobriety tests. The marijuana was seized and a warning was given for open cannabis packages in a motor vehicle. A citation was issued for expired registration.
• Stopped a vehicle at 12:43 p.m. Saturday at Broadway and 6th St. N. after the driver, a 23-year-old Mankato man was texting while driving. An orange medication bottle without a label was found. The driver said the medication belonged to his mother. Police called her and were told she no longer takes the medications and can be disposed of. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a theft report at Walmart at 1:47 p.m. Saturday involving a 29-year-old Brownton man who was switching price stickers on three occasions since January 2025. The theft totaled $120.38. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for charge consideration.
• Took a report of a man trying to break into an apartment Sunday. A 31-year-old homeless man was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for consideration of second-degree burglary, trespassing, disorderly conduct and fourth-degree criminal damage to property charges.
