New Ulm Police

• Stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday at Broadway and 12th St. S. Impairment signs were detected on the driver, a 50-year-old New Ulm man. He was arrested for DWI and transported to detox. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for consideration of second-degree DWI, fifth-degree controlled substance possession, driving after revocation and open cannabis package in a motor vehicle.

Renville County Sheriff’s Office

• Received a 911 report of a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) that overturned with the driver pinned inside at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday on the 32000 block, 720th Avenue, Henryville Township, Morton. Emergency responders said the driver, Edna M. Wertish, 75, Morton, was conscious and receiving care from bystanders.

She was later extricated from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to Centra Care Redwood Hospital and later transferred to a trauma center for serious injury treatment.

Deputies determined Wertish was eastbond on 720th Avenue in a 2010 Polaris Ranger, lost control, entered the ditch and overturned. Assisting agencies were the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, Morton Fire Department and Medical Response Unit and Centra Care Ambulance, Redwood Falls.
