1.) What is your background and why are you running for school board?

1. I have been on the school board since 2013. During this time I have completed Phase 1 – 4 training. I have also had the opportunity to attend MSBA conference and the workshops offered there along with other trainings offered. I believe it is important to give back to our community and serving on the school board is one way to do that. It is also important to support our schools.

2.) In your opinion, what is the top issue facing District 88 Schools?

2. We need to ensure all students feel safe from the time they board a bus, walk or bike, or get dropped off at school until they return home. This includes before and after school activities. Students need to know they can trust the adults they work with each day. These relationships are an important part of the school/learning experience.

3.) What is the board’s role in ensuring that the district serves all types of learners?

3. Each student brings their own unique set of strengths and challenges. It is our responsibility to provide the tools necessary for each student to achieve the best education possible as lifelong learners. There are different pathways for students entering the workforce, military, tech school or college. Preparing our students for their future is an important part of school.

4.) What role should the board take in helping recruit and retain teaching staff?

4. While it is not the direct responsibility of the school board to recruit teachers, it is important to offer a competitive salary and benefit package. Finding qualified teachers is critical to a school. We need to continue to promote NUPS and all that we have to offer.

5.) What is your top goal if elected to the school board?

5. My goal is to provide the best educational opportunities to all students of Dist 88.

Starting at $4.38/week.
