Tim is survived by his wife, Tammy; daughter, Kristina; son, Shane (Ashley); stepdaughter, Megan (Christian) Odegard; father, Arlen Koestler; sisters, Deborah Kuck and Rachel (Merel) Grack; brother, Michael (Patricia) Koestler; and his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen, and his grandparents.

Timothy Todd Koestler was born on July 9, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Arlen and Karen (Messerschmidt) Koestler. Tim graduated from Martin Luther Academy in 1979, then furthered his education at Mankato Technical Institute. Tim worked at KLDicovery in Eden Prairie for over 30 years as a senior software engineer. Tim and Tammy were united in marriage Oct. 17, 2015. Tim enjoyed attending Minnesota Wild games with Tammy and his children, frequent trips to the Boundary Waters, camping excursions with his BWCA friends, and attending various music concerts. He cherished the time he spent building an amplifier with his son Shayne and used it to rock out on his guitar. Tim loved his tie-dyed shirts, explained anything and everything in great detail, served as the family technology wizard, and had a tender heart.

Tim’s family would like to thank Allina Health New Ulm and Virginia Piper Cancer Institute. Susan Gersch and all the staff took such good care of Tim these last two years.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church or the Virginia Piper Cancer Center.
