Darla was born on April 25, 1936; she only weighed 1 pound 9 ounces! A miracle by any means! She was raised in Buffalo Lake, Mn, she later moved to New Ulm, Mn, where she raised her family. She had a vivacious personality and always had a smile to give. She loved baking homemade bread, rhubarb pies and sugar cookies. A farm girl at heart, she always had a very large garden and searched for wild plum trees to make plum jam. As she aged, she loved going for walks and when she could no longer walk outside you could find her pushing her stroller around the track at the local recreation center. She was also a huge fan of the Twins and the Vikings, never missing a game. Oak Hills Living Center was the center of her life at the end. It held a very special place in her heart. She was very thankful for all of the nurses, doctors and caregivers, and believe me there was a lot of them! She will greatly miss all of her friendships she developed there and all the people who sat and played alongside her during the numerous social activities which included BINGO! playing cards! sitting outside during summer! deer hunting! social hour! The Tony Berg band! etc. Darla had a wonderful long life and thank you to all who made it so!
