MADELIA–Gregory A. Kunz age 85, of Madelia, MN, died on May 26, 2024, at The Beacon at Lake Crystal.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Madelia Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Madelia, on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. The clergy will be Fr. Timothy Hall. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Madelia. Military rites will be provided by the Madelia Area Veterans Honor Guard.

Gregory “Greg” Ambrose Kunz was born to Joseph and LoRita (Farris) Kunz on June 5, 1938 in Madelia, MN. He attended St. Mary’s school and was confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madelia. Greg graduated from Madelia High School and later enlisted in the United States Army. He returned to his family farm where continued to work and farm for the rest of his life. Greg married Dee Johnson on December 1, 1977. Greg served as an altar server and usher at St Mary’s, was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and was a lifelong member of St Mary’s Church in Madelia. In his free time he enjoyed playing baseball with his brothers and he loved to golf.

Greg is survived by his step-daughter, Chris Melzer; brother, Vincent Kunz; sister, Ruth Hacker, and sister-in-law, Mary Kunz. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dee Kunz; sister, Kathryn Zilka; brothers, Paul Weldon, Dominic and Bernard Kunz; sisters-in-law, Allie Kunz, Barb Kunz, Gloria Weldon, and brother-in-law, Allan Hacker.
