He passed away at his apartment in Chaska, MN, at the age of 92. Dick and his family lived in Hopkins, MN and attended Mizpah United Church of Christ. He was a dedicated church and choir member for over 50 years. Dick was a “Jolly German,” known for his love of life, family, friends, faith, music, and singing German songs. He took special pride in his family heritage, especially that of the August Schell Brewing Company in New Ulm, MN where he served as a Board member for nearly 40 years.

In addition, Dick and his wife (Mary) created Younique Tours, a specialized travel company focused on seniors. For over 20 years they traveled the world with numerous customers, many of whom became special friends.
Dick has been reunited with his parents, Frank and Laura Niemann and his brother, Robert Niemann (MIA, Korea). He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Niemann, his three children, Mike (Cindy) Niemann, Greg (Robin) Niemann and Annette (Mark) Niemann-Musso, and sister Carol Reinhart. Dick is also survived by his three beloved grandchildren, Emilie Niemann, Madison (Charles) Giuliani, and Matteo Musso, who were constant sources of joy for him.
