SPRINGFIELD–Audrey M. Baumann Scholtz, age 104, formerly of Springfield, died on September 15, 2024, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm, MN.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Springfield, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Raphael Catholic Church, on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The clergy will be Father Jeremy Kucera. Interment will be at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Lamberton, MN. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN. Audrey M. Broich was born on August 25, 1920 to John and Mary (Kaschmitter) Broich in Burnstown Township, Brown County, MN. Her family moved to Adrain, MN and she attended St. Adrain’s Catholic School for 11 1/2 years and finished high school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sleepy Eye. After her schooling, Audrey worked for her father’s grocery store for 5 years. On March 3, 1943, Audrey was united in marriage to Edward Baumann and the couple farmed south of Lamberton for 47 years. After Ed’s stroke, the couple moved into Lamberton in 1976. Edward died in June of 1990. On October 15, 1994, she married Leonard Scholtz. Audrey worked at Valley View Manor, the American Legion, and Vexilar. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, visiting, playing cards, gardening, crocheting, and doing crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children – Tom (Georgia) Baumann of New Ulm, Kathy (Tom) Johnson of Winnebago, and Steve (Robin) Baumann of Bloomington; son-in-law Steve Werner; grandchildren – Barry (Cyndy) Werner, Lisa (Dan) McCalvy, Mark (Krys) Werner, Laura Thomas, Jason (Karolyn) Baumann, Michael (Emily) Johnson, Andrew Johnson (special friend Mylene), Nicole (fiancé Andrew) Johnson and Daniel (Danielle) Johnson; 17 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husbands – Edward and Leonard; daughter – Pat; and 8 brothers and their spouses.
