Deloris Leone Kramer was born August 10, 1937, in Gibbon to John and Hertha (Fenske) Kramer. Growing up in Gibbon, Deloris was a 1955 graduate from Gibbon High School. She was united in marriage to Demar Barfknecht on August 1, 1957, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. This union blessed the couple with a daughter and two sons whom together they raised in Gibbon. Early in life, Deloris worked as a waitress at the Tropicana, and the Skelly Station in Gibbon. For many years, she worked at the Hauser Lumber Hardware store in town where she kept the books, but also worked on the sales floor. Later in life, she worked at the New Ulm Building Center as well as Hands in Winthrop. Besides her work, there were a variety of hobbies she enjoyed. Deloris had quite the green thumb and showed it in her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed canning the fruits of her labor in at the end of the summer. Deloris also enjoyed sharing her gifts in the kitchen where she provided countless wonderful meals for her family over the years. Early in her life, she enjoyed dancing to old tyme music at area dance halls with Demar. To socialize, she loved a good round of cards or dice with friends, family, and neighbors. Deloris was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she always volunteered where needed. She will forever be remembered for her loving and caring heart. She was a great listener for her family, and was always there to provide them with good advice. Although Deloris was able to live a wonderful 87 years with us, she will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
