Richard Baumann was born August 9, 1948, to Harold and Arlina (Gerdes) Baumann in Litchfield, MN. He graduated from Belle Plaine high school and answered the call to serve his country after being drafted into the U.S. Army from January 1971 to December 1972. Richard was released early to continue his college education. He was proud of being the first person in his family to graduate from college earning a master’s degree in Agriculture Education from the University of Minnesota. Even after graduating from college, Richard considered himself a life-long learner continuing to expand his knowledge throughout his lifetime.

Richard was united in marriage to Barbara Trebiatowski on September 7, 1968, in Chaska. Together, they shared 53 years of happy marriage, building a beautiful life and family. They were blessed with five children. Professionally, Richard was a respected instructor at South Central College, where he taught Farm Business Management, sharing his knowledge of agriculture with his students. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and spending time at the cabin. He was an active member of his community, participating in organizations including the Legion Club, Red Cross, Hub Club, Optimus Club, and FFA. Richard and Barbara enjoyed traveling and were able to go to many countries including Cameroon, Denmark, Egypt, Ireland, Mexico, and several more. They had a special tradition of taking each of their grandchildren on a trip of their choosing. Richard’s happiest moments were those spent with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Blessed be his memory.
